| Abstract: | Ag(I) catalysed abstraction of CN- from potassium hexacyanoferrate(II) in the presence of excess –nitro-so- N,N-dimethylaniline (NDMA) at pH 3.0 gives a green coloured species [Fe(CN)5NDMAH+]2-. This reaction has been used for the sub-micro spectrophotometric determination of Ag(I) in the concentration range 10-7 to 10-5 mol dm-3 (≈ 0.01 to 1.1 μg/ml) at 25ᵒC. The tolerance limits of diverse ions are also discussed. |
