Synthesis and characterisation of clusters of stoichiometry [W2X6L3] (X=Cl- or Br- and L = imidazole, 2-methylimidazole, benzimidazole or 2-methylbenzimidazole) are described. The complexes are covalent in character. A double fused octahedron site symmetry has been proposed for tungsten(III) on the basis of magnetic moment, conductance, electronic reflectance and IR spectral data.en_US
