Abstract: The exchange of Cu2+ and Mn2+ ions into zeolites ZSM-5 and Na-Y has been examined by ESR spectroscopy. The observed line shapes are for axially symmetric species for both the ions in both the zeolites. The Cu2+ in ZSM-5 appears to be mobile in dehydrated samples. In the case of Na-Y,Cu2+ and Mn2+ ions are believed to be present in the S II sites in the hydrated samples and in S I and S I' sites in the dehydrated samples. In the case of ZSM-5 they are present in the pore intersections.
