| Abstract: | Membrane potential studies show that lecithin membrane formed by impregnation of a cellulose nitrate substrate by a saturated solution of lecithin in n-hexane bears some charge inspite of the amphoteric nature of its molecules. An examination of the results obtained with NaCI and MgCl2 solutions as electrolyte shows that the lecithin membrane is endowed with some cation selectivity which decreases with increase in concentration of the electrolyte solutions, and also depends on pH of the electrolyte. |
