Synthesis & characterization of some nickel(II) & copper (II) carbodithioates

Abstract

Nickel(II) and copper(II) carbodithioates of the general formulae M{2-MPipz(cdt)₂} (M =Ni and Cu; 2-MPipz(cdt)₂ = 2-methylpiperazine-l, 4-dicarbodithioate), M(4-PPipzcdt)₂ (M = Ni and Cu; 4-PPipzcdt = 4-phenylpiperazine-l-carbodithioate), and the zwitterions-ic complexes having the formula M(LH)₂X₂ [M = Ni and Cu, X = Cl and Br for LH = 4-methylpiperazine-1-carbodithioic acid (4-MPipzcdtH); and X = Cl for LH = 4- phenylpiperazine-l-carbodithioic acid (4-PPipzcdtH)] have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, infrared and electronic spectral data and magnetic susceptibility studies. EPR spectra of three copper(II) carbodithioates have also been recorded at liquid nitrogen temperature.
