Studies on methyl N-(2-thiazolyl)dithiocarbamate complexes of some bivalent metal ions

Abstract

Complexes of methyl N-(2-thiazolyl)dithiocarbamate, Hmtdc, of the compositions M(Hmtdc)₂CI₂[M= Co(II), Ni(II) or Cu(II)], M(Hmtdc)Cl₂ [M=Cd(II) or Hg(II)] and M(mtdc)₂(H₂O)₂, [M= Co(II), Ni(II) or Cu(II)] have been prepared and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, and electronic, electron spin resonance and infrared spectral studies. The modes of the ligand chelation and the stereochemistry around the metal ions are discussed.
