Preparation and characterisation of some diaryltellurium trihaloacetates

Abstract

Diaryltellurium bis(trihaloacetates) and diarylchlorotellurium trihaloacetates of the types R₂Te(OCOCX₃)₂ and R’₂TeCl(OCOCX₃) (R = C₂H₅OC₆H₄, R' = CH₃OC₆H₄, C₂H₅OC₆H₄; X = F, CI) have been prepared by metathetical reaction between corresponding dichloride and AgOCOCF₃ or NaOCOCl₃ respectively. A convenient synthesis of diaryltellurium  is(trifluoroacetates) from the corresponding telluroxides and trifluoroacetic anhydride is described. These compounds have been characterised by IR, IH and ¹⁹F NMR spectra and X-ray diffraction studies.
