Abstract: The thermal diffusion of aqueous solutions of glycine, ɑ-alanine, ɑ-glutamic acid, tetraethylammonium chloride, sodium salicylate and potassium hydrogen phthalate through a sintered G-4 glass disc has been studied. The resulting heat of transport values have been explained in terms of "local"• changes in structure of the surrounding solvent as compared to that of the bulk, and are correlated with the hydrophobic hydration effects.
