Abstract: Treatment of [R2Sn(Cl)(OPri)] with 2-pyridyl alcohols in refluxing benzene affords white crystalline solids of the type [R2Sn(Cl){O(CH2)nC5H4N}] (R = Me, Et, Pn, Bun, or Ph; n = 1 or 2). These complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses and IR, 119Sn Mossbauer and NMR (1H, 13C and 119Sn) data. In chloroform solution these complexes adopt a five-coordinate geometry as revealed by NMR data, but in solid state they appear to have some degree of molecular association.
