| Abstract: | A new series of macrocyclic complexes of nickel(II) has been isolated through the reaction of ɑ- and β-diketones with the complex of nickel(II) with 1, 4, 6, 8, 11-pentaazaundecane. The macrocycles have been found to possess square planar coordination around the metal ion. The complexes undergo one electron reversible reduction in the E1/2 range -1.05V to -1.36V and their redox potentials correlate with the ligand field strengths DqXY of the macrocycles. |
