Abstract: Tin(IV) has been quantitatively extracted with 4 x 10-2 M 18crown6 in methylene chloride from 1.5 M sulphuric acid containing 1.65 M of potassium iodide. It has been determined spectrophotornetrically as its iodide complex at 410 nm. Tin has been successfully separated from arsenic, antimony, bismuth, lead and thallium with which it is generally associated. The method has been applied to the analysis of tin in different alloys.
