This research work describes the tribological behaviour of AA8011 aluminium alloy fabricated through liquid metallurgy route. The test samples are prepared and established as per ASTM- G99. Response surface methodology (RSM) is used to 3 factors, 3 levels face-centered central composite design (FCCCD) is used to reduce the quantity of experimental conditions and establish the statistical relationship between the key process parameters namely applied load (5, 10, 15 N), time (5, 10, 15 min) and sliding velocity (1.5, 3.0, 4.5 m/s) toward evaluation of the wear rate using statistical regression analysis and analysis of variance (ANOVA). It is observed that the applied load is the significant parameter followed by time and sliding velocity for the wear rate (WR) and coefficient of friction (COF). A regression model is developed to predict the wear rate of the prepared AA8011. It is found that the wear rate decreases with sliding velocity and increases with time and applied load.en_US
