| Abstract: | During the study of the electrophilic substitution of indole with acetone in the presence of boron trifluoride etherate two interesting products (I) and (II) have been obtained. Compound (I) is found to be highly unstable in deuterochloroform. The study of this instability has led to discovery of an amazing rearrangement of (I) to (II) in deuterochloroform and in acid medium. |
