| Abstract: | In the present paper electrochemical behaviour of erythrosine (disodium salt of 9-carboxyphenyl-6-hydroxy-2,4,5,7-tetraiodo-3-isoxanthone) has been studied using platinum and steel foil as working electrode. Controlled potential electrolysis took 6 h for depolarization using platinum electrode, with a significant decrease in colour and absorbance. The rate of reaction was found to be obeying first order rate expression. |
