| Abstract: | Thiosemicarbazide of 6-chloro-2-aminobenzothiozole on cyclization with different aromatic carboxylic acids in POCl3 and substituted azlactones in pyridine provide the corresponding 2-aryl-5-(6′-chloro-1′,3′-benzothiazole-2-yl-amino)-1,3,4-thiadiazoles 2a-j and 4-(4′-arylidene) -2-phenyl-1-(6′-chloro-1′,3′-benzothiazol-2-yl-thiourido)-4,5-dihydroimidazolin-5-ones 3a-e. The compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR and mass spectral data. All the compounds have been evaluated in vitro for their antimicrobial activities against several microbes and show significant activity |
