| Abstract: | 1-Oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydrocarbazoles 1 upon reaction with hydroxylamine hydrochloride in the presence of formic acid yield hitherto unknown 2-(3',4'-dihydrocarbazol-1'-yl)-2,3,4,5-tetrahydroindolo[2,3-b]azepanes 2 in good yield in a single step and is characterized by IR, NMR and mass spectra and elemental analysis. |
