| Abstract: | Indian traditional systems of medicine like Ayurveda and Siddha offer medicines called Kayakalpa drugs for rejuvenation and for treating refractive diseases. Amuri is one such drug described in many Siddha texts and manuscripts. An unpublished Siddha palm leaf manuscript Kanranadi Vakkiyam describes preparation of Amuri from Banana tree. An attempt has been made in this work to extract Amuri from Musa paradisiaca L., standardize its yield and characterize the liquid using physico-chemical parameters |
